10 Best GMK Mechanical Keycaps Reviews – A Buyer’s Guide
Within the mech keys community, GMK has developed into a revered figure. It should come as no surprise that every set the firm manufactures is made out of ABS plastic of the finest possible quality and has Doubleshot legends that will not wear away over time. It is a distinction that may be experienced physically.
The question therefore is, why does GMK cost so much? Some of the causes are as follows:
- Two-color moulding offers greater resistance to wear;
- Vivid colors with a strong contrast between them;
- A sound that is crisp when typing;
- The 4 Base keyboard is a nice fit for the already existing one.
- The mold of Cherry
- Cool Spacebar Number Six
- The thickness of 1.5 millimeters
DROP + REDSUNS GMK RED SAMURAI CUSTOM KEYCAP SET
The stunning colour scheme of GMK Red Samurai, the first keycap set by artist RedSuns, is reminiscent of the armour of a Japanese warrior. Any keyboard, especially dark ones, will look good with the aggressive combination of red and dark grey with golden accents and legends.
If you’ve previously purchased GMK Keycaps, this is essentially what you hear and anticipate. Strong and immaculate, with high quality and no odd cast or mould marks, are the legends. Colors, legends, and look are all sharp and error-free. Quality caps and newly lubricated switches produce excellent sound, as should be anticipated.
DROP + MITO GMK HENNESSEY CUSTOM KEYCAP SET
This one has a more muted and understated appearance. The GMK Hennessey, which features a monochrome design, is comparable to previous one-off sets manufactured by MiTo, such as the Cockpit for Godspeed and the Cyberdeck for SA Laser.
Because this is a simple black-and-white set, you shouldn’t anticipate anything too elaborate from it. The colour scheme is timeless and practical, and it pairs nicely with a wide range of board colours. At the same time, the colour scheme has a classic feel because to the use of lower case letters on the modifiers. There are some reports of the spacebar being deformed, and I would ask that you exercise extreme caution around the marks and dents that are present on the keycaps.
DROP + MITO GMK GODSPEED CUSTOM KEYCAP SET
Space freaks really need to have the Godspeed custom keycap set since it is inspired by the classic colorway on the original Apollo 11 Lunar Module Cockpit. This makes it an important keycap set for anyone who are into space. It has more of a vintage appearance thanks to the colours of the alphas, which are more of a beige cream. The blue is a powdery light blue that has a very calming effect on people. There is a terrific pop provided by the red and yellow keys. There is a very slight curling on the edges of the spacebars, such that if you set one of them on a level surface, there will be a tiny gap between it and the surface. These GMK keycaps have a cherry profile that is just somewhat lower than the PBT version..
DROP + NEPHLOCK GMK KAIJU CUSTOM KEYCAP SET
This set exceeds my expectations with its brilliant colouring; the green and orange colour combination looks so beautiful with any whiteboard or green board. The designer Nephlock drew inspiration for GMK Kaiju from classic Japanese monster films. It gives any white antique keyboard an appearance that is both nostalgic and modern at the same time. Because of the versatility of the kitting, purchasing hiragana sub legends without first paying for the basic kit and alphas is a bargain. The only thing that could be improved is its compatibility with the remaining 65 percent of layouts.
DROP + MITO GMK BELAFONTE CUSTOM KEYCAP SET
GMK Belafonte, with its aqua alphas, cyan modifiers, and accents in mustard, crimson, and white, is the ideal set for a water-based adventure. If you are a major fan of The Life Aquatic, this set is a stunning homage to the film. It is a brand-new colorway without imitating a terminal scheme and reissuing or rebranding of existing sets. Due to the ABS substance, it quickly becomes glossy from your acidic hands within a month.
DROP + ZAMBUMON GMK NAUTILUS NIGHTMARES KEYCAP SET
GMK Nautilus keycaps are Zambumon’s Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea-themed keycap set. If you were hoping for a deep green set, this definitely won’t be your cup of tea. Many consumers have expressed dissatisfaction with the colour of the produced images, which were a lovely deep green, almost forest-like hue. The actual scene was teal. It is quite challenging to shoot effectively, especially with a mobile phone, and many of the pictures of it on this site do not truly capture how it appears in person.
ORIGINATIVE GMK KEYCAP EXTRAVAGANZA
This is an homage to 11 distinct sets from the GMK catalogue, including lesser-known (but still beloved) sets like Penumbra, Red Honey, and Blue Alert as well as classics like Dolch, Classic Retro, and Cream Cheese Green.
They have nearly flawless legends and are made of thick ABS (1.5mm). They provide a wonderful bassy sound due to their thickness. Over time, ABS becomes glossy, but light-colored sets like “True Olivetti” have less shine overall. If you dislike the way sparkly keycaps appear, I suggest using a light colour.
You won’t be dissatisfied with this product if you truly believe that spending $150 on plastic is a wise financial move. To help them suit any arrangement, they come with a tonne of additional caps.
However, there are some drawbacks: because the kits are a few years old and don’t have as many keys as the modern ones do, keyboard compatibility is rather constrained.
MASSDROP X ZAMBUMON GMK JAMÓN CUSTOM KEYCAP SET
Designer Zambumon, a native Spaniard who you may recognise from settings like Serika and Nautilus, designed GMK Jamón as a homage to the deliciously salty cured pork. The set, which is made up of a variety of dark red hues, has white legends that depict the fat’s marbling, which gives jamón its distinctively savoury flavour. The colours are nicely matched to the theme, and they work surprisingly well with either the orange case or the black case. The combining possibilities with other sets should be fantastic.
DROP GMK WHITE-ON-BLACK CUSTOM KEYCAP SET
The set of 140 ultra-thick, ultra-durable ABS keycaps, made in Germany using original Cherry tooling, puts PBT to the test. The colours chosen are the classic CR Black and WS1 White from GMK for a coordinating appearance that goes with any keyboard.
The best weapon in your armoury is without a doubt white on black; it just complements so many colours, especially for those who enjoy a blacked-out or black and white construction. Most keyboard layouts (60, 65, 75, TKL, 1800, 100%, etc.) are kitted out with this set.
Because of the colour of this set, black, ABS will unfortunately show up considerably more quickly than with other colours. Overall, a great set at an unbelievably affordable cost for GMK that is currently in stock!
